The silent communication and bonding that comes from riding a tandem bicycle together (down Lumsden hill at almost 80 km/hr) makes us perfect photographic partners.
Just as we do when riding a tandem bicycle, as photographers we work as a team. It’s not surprising that teams are most successful when teammates function as a ‘well-oiled machine’ — relying upon each other to perform their roles and work together to a common goal. A shared understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each team member is critical to team success, and each team member needs to trust their teammates to ‘have their back’ to avoid gaps and mistakes. Just like riding a tandem bicycle at high (or low) speed, we bring trust, communication, planning, pace and accuracy to our photo engagements to ‘reach our destination’ and get to ‘end of job’ — while enjoying the journey along the way.
Brian Fergusson’s love of cameras spans his entire life, starting as a child taking black and white photos with a Kodak Instamatic. Over the decades he has been a hobbyist, the guy behind the retail camera counter, and now a member of PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada). Brian’s extensive business experience as a senior executive in the technology industry and his unquenchable thirst to learn and understand ‘what makes things tick’ contributes to his knowledge of cameras and all that goes with it work like a fine-tuned car (but that is another hobby and story), as well as listening and configuring the shoot to meet the most demanding client’s needs.
Donna Kovatch’s love of photography came about more by accident, and is strongly fueled by curiosity, passion and learning. Donna has a knack for imagining something and finding a way to make it happen. This is true for her in photography and in life. Portraiture is becoming more of a passion for Donna, after a long career in technology and training/teaching. Her ability to work with people to accomplish complex tasks has come in handy in making people feel comfortable and relaxed with a lens in front of them.
As a husband and wife team, we are enthusiastic, creative, energetic, and capable of a wide variety of photography engagements, both formal and informal. Our work has been described by our clients as a relaxed style, capturing people in a genuine way that represents who they are in their real lives.
